We feed bodies as well as minds
Hungry children do not learn well. So we feed them.
Rice is grown in Madagascar's rainy season from November to April. The rice often doesn't last until the next harvest because most families don't have enough land, so the rainy season is also the Hungry Season.
We grow vegetables to support our feeding program on school land and on the rice fields that parents lend us during the dry season. Parents can contribute to their children's school fees by working in the gardens.
